Maybe the best way is this: The custom script produces a formatted problems.txt, and the flake8 or pylint-plugin will trigger the custom script, read the file, and locate the described problems in the code. It was pointed out to me (in SO meta chat by Abdul Aziz Barkat) that pylint-plugins can do a lot, even when code is dynamic: https://pylint.readthedocs.io/en/stable/development_guide/how_tos/transform_plugins.html

For now I am going with just a custom script that checks rules iteratively, no annotations, no rule discovery, absolutely nothing clever. My instinct was to write the missing framework myself, but then I would get nothing done on the actual linter itself. (more) |
