The player manages the group's violation in Retro Bowl and serves as its general manager. Elements of running an American football team are also included in the game, including trading and cutting players, approving free agents, keeping players happy, and much more. Since only EA has the NFL license for the real groups and gamers, Retro Bowl creates a jersey that is similar to the team and uses the city's name instead of the team's name to avoid copyright issues. All of the groups are based on actual NFL groups.
