You should know I am not a bot by now ;-)

We don't actually serve any captchas: it's all done by Cloudflare. Cloudflare runs a firewall that scans incoming requests and issues a captcha challenge to any that appear to be automated or malicious. The exact rules it uses to do this aren't public, but we can tweak it some. It seems to trigger more often (though not always by any means) if you're posting code, particularly PHP. If you let me know the details of any request you've made that got hit with a captcha, I can have a look at the settings and try to identify any issues.

This keeps happening, it is very annoying. I just got this after a post where I was writing an answer, then went to edit the question post using the same browser window. Since I didn't trust the site to save the draft I was writing, I made a copy/paste of it first. When I returned to the answer, the site said it had loaded a draft that I was returning to. However, the loaded draft wasn't the most recent so I pasted what I had previously saved.

Link to the post that prompted for Captcha before I could post the answer: https://software.codidact.com/posts/281464#answer-281474. This contained code, but C (with C code formatting tags), not PHP. I'm always logged in to Codidact. Using Firefox.

@Lundin Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep trying to tweak the settings. Let me know if it's still at annoying levels over the next few weeks.

It's still there, more frequent than ever it seems. Just got it again after posting this answer. Maybe it's related to formatting or how long you spend typing the answer? That one was very long, so I kept the browser upon for a wee while. By the way, may I interest you in some pictures of boats? :)

I get it every single time I do an edit now. It seems to be getting worse. Can we just disable this whole crap until it gets fixed? This is going to scale incredibly poorly when the sites grow. Then you'll have hundred posts like this per day.

@Lundin I think we'll admit defeat here for now. I don't have the time to invest in getting this tuned perfectly, and you're right that it's only going to cause more issues. I've turned most rules off except the absolute essentials - let me know if you still have issues.
