In a website I didn't build, I want to put a value in an HTML input field element with JavaScript and to also use it as-putted.

I can put it with the browser console this way:

document.querySelector("#example").value = "X";

But, the value isn't effective (isn't recognized by the form) unless actually typed with the keyboard or pasted.

What may cause that problem?

... therefore you get a big shrug from me. But note that depending on the actually web site/page you are messing with and depending on how and precisely when your little Javascript runs, you might get different results...

Until the relevant HTML and the entire JS code are provided, it is virtually impossible to answer this question, so I have closed this question. Of course, once it becomes answerable, I will reopen it.
