## Your own questions
If the original question was your own, then you own it and there is no restriction on also [posting it to Codidact](https://meta.codidact.com/posts/278316 "Cross posting question on Codidact Meta").

## Other people's answers
For a question or answer posted by someone else, you may need their permission before posting here, depending on how it is licensed, and you may also need to give attribution to the original source. Even when attribution is not required, providing a link to the source material is helpful, and encouraged by the [Codidact guidelines](https://meta.codidact.com/help/referencing "Guidelines for referencing and quoting on Codidact communities"). You should make sure it is clear that the post is not your own.

If the original answer was in the less formal setting of an online chat, you could also invite the answerer to post an answer to your question here. This way they may post a fuller answer than they initially provided in the chat, and they will receive any reputation from voting, which they would miss out on if you simply quoted their chat answer.

## Answers of your own
If you solve your own question yourself, then posting an answer to your own question is very welcomed - please do!
