Comment Post #277932 @pnuts then that should be a clarification in the *answer*, not the question

Comment Post #277930 @pnuts huh, never heard that usage before. It's always been either "on top of" or "at the top of", since it needs a preposition before top

Comment Post #277930 @pnuts It's a problem for me, who finds one letter long links to be difficult to see and click on. Also, I'm not holding you to anything, I just felt it would improve the post

Comment Post #277932 @pnuts if all you need is what format the binary string is in, then it's easy enough to say, right? You could easily give an example, such as "10110111" or something, no need to be roundabout and say that it's the result of the BASE function

Clarified the title for those who don't know what the Hamming distanced is, and removed extraneous information (the way you got the binary string is irrelevant to parsing it)

Answer A: Nodejs wrap async function in synchronous function
> What are my options here? Do I need to switch the module I'm using to access the db? Do I need to write C code? Or is there a really clever technique to directly solve this problem, using only nodejs? Generally, you shouldn't be turning asynchronous functions into synchronous ones. I would sugge...

Answer A: Meaning of the tag software practices?
(The user who created the tag) The tag was to make it clear that (somewhat) opinion-based questions are allowed on site, with the [software-practices] marking which questions are about "best practices", "pros and cons", and other such questions where there is no "right" answer, but there can defin...

Answer A: Function call; `this` gets bound to unexpected value
Why parenthesis don't work as you expect You seem to have a rough idea how the `this` keyword is resolved, so I'll skip explaining that and go straight to your question. > I was surprised to find that when the above function is called, `this` is still bound to `obj`! It seems that here, `(obj.a...

Question Code Challenges Category (Code Golfing & others)
I was inspired by the contests on Outdoors and Writing, and thought that having some challenges over here would be fun as well. What do you all think about adding a new category where people can post some coding challenges to the site? We could start by having a monthly contest, like on the other sit...

Comment Post #277249 @Lundin @Olin Ah, I see, thanks. I was basing my assumption off the list of questions on that page. I wonder if the proposed microcontrollers & microcontroller programming site would be worthwhile then, if the electrical engineering site covers that... though that's more a discussion for the proposal...

Answer A: Site scope - draft proposal
I don't really see the point of listing specific things as "on topic." Any such list is bound to either be incomplete or have a grey area overlap with things off-topic. I also disagree with some of the things you list as off topic, specifically > System/network/server administration. I also ...
