This is a good general way to fix such problems, but it is a big security risk. This is the way many viruses spread (the classical "trojan horse" route). Use common sense; estimate your risks; only use stuff from official sources which are unlikely to contain malware. (more) |

A: Jenkins failed to delete a file - why? How to prevent? I don't know how to prove or discover this, but anyway. This error happens when Jenkins job is interrupted while the P4 plugin is doing what it calls "reconcile". A "reconcile" is a special form of downloading, which is supposed to do it faster and/or more cleanly. P4 plugin has several bugs re... (more) |

Question | — |
What advantages does Agner Fog's VCL have over OpenMP? Agner Fog has this C++ Vector Class Library, which is > ... useful for improving code performance where speed is critical and where the compiler is unable to vectorize the code automatically in an optimal way. However, it looks like OpenMP `simd` construct offers exactly this, and much more. Op... (more) |

I think you can answer your own question if you print `event.key` on each event. Please post what you find out! (more) |

Question | — |
How to manage CPU capabilities of Jenkins nodes? We use Jenkins Pipeline to build and test some C++ software. The pipeline script runs the tests on 10 different nodes in a parallel way in order to save time. All of these nodes are real (not virtual) computers on the network. Some of the computers have old CPUs, which don't support modern instruc... (more) |

Also, did you read about the Rabin-Karp algorithm? Please clarify.

Maybe add examples? The word "immediately" is not clear; maybe best to clarify it with examples. Also, "time efficient way" - what does this mean? Efficiency is often a trade-off; what are your requirements? Or maybe you you don't have requirements, and you just want ideas? (more) |

Empty parentheses mean "any number of parameters" (this feature is not very useful, and can lead to some confusion). Use `void (*ptr)(void)` for a pointer to a function with no parameters. (more) |

The failure happens at the P4 checkout time. I called it "download" because I think it's not actually called "checkout" in Perforce-language. Yes, I run the job in the same directory each time. This is a good idea - I can create a temporary directory for each run as a workaround for my problem! (more) |

I think using categories for such a "community split" is an excellent idea! If your community grows too much, you split it and continue with manageable size. If your community stops growing, you continue without adding categories. Everyone is happy. Also, the point on experienced programmers being ne... (more) |

Question | — |
How to do "out-of-source" build properly with cmake? There are two broad types of build environments - in-source and out-of-source. "In-source" means the compiled files will appear in the same directory as source files. "Out-of-source" means there is a dedicated directory for compilation results. It seems the latter one is more suitable for large proje... (more) |

Question | — |
Jenkins failed to delete a file - why? How to prevent? We are using Jenkins to run our system tests on a regular schedule. The Jenkins job downloads some python scripts from Perforce, runs them and compares the outputs with known-good results. The problem is, sometimes downloading from Perforce fails: `12:46:19 operating system will not allow delet... (more) |
